Golden rule: lock before you sell.
Relic key items (the three gems, the Ghastly Skull, the alien parts), Leviathan drops and any fish an active quest needs are worth far more than their sell price. Lock them in the Bag, bless Cursed fish at Pristina, and check the bounty board before you dump the rest.
